Supporting Christian Business

“Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, ESPECIALLY, to those who belong to the household of faith.” Galatians 6:10

We’ve all seen the outpouring of support for Chik-fil-a when they were under attack for their biblical beliefs and now the same is happening to Hobby Lobby. Now I’ll admit I like Chik-fil-a chicken sandwiches but the main reason I go out of my way to eat there is to support a Christian business that practices Christian values and integrity. Shouldn’t we be supporting all Christian businesses the same way? Not just because they get national attention, but because when we spend dollars with any Christian business that money is going back to serving the Lord through tithes, offerings, missions, etc. It’s also going to support Christian families with Christian values that might be raising Christian children.

In today’s economy, Christian consumers are looking to do business with a company that they know is willing to stand up and declare that they run their business with Christian ethics and integrity. We at Integrity Publishing Solutions believe that together we can change the world through our faith in Jesus Christ. To do this effectively we must be willing to step forward, publicly declare our belief in our Lord and demonstrate our faith in our daily life. We are dedicated to bringing Christians and Christian Businesses together in an effective and professional manner that honors God. God calls every Christian to be a witness to His Glory and also expects each of us to be good stewards in the business environment as well as examples of His son’s teachings in our daily interactions.

So next time you need a plumber, a roofer, a dentist, an attorney (yes, there are Christian attorneys, lol), or whatever product or service you might need, take the time to find a Brother or Sister in Christ to do business with. Whether you find them in the Christian Business Phone Book or in your local church, support those who are supported by Christ!

Responding to Challenges

“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands in times of challenge and controversy.”  -Martin Luther King, Jr.

That quote is one of my favorites and has significant meaning especially regarding this last year, 2012. In March of this year, two days before the 3rd edition of the Christian Business Phone Book was to go to print, I accidentally fell off an eight foot retaining wall shattering my Tibial Plateau (left leg). After almost three weeks in the hospital and two surgeries I was allowed to come home. With my leg in a cast, I was bed and chair ridden, could not walk more than about 10 feet (only with a walker), and my attitude was out the window.

It’s times like these that my mind thinks of what Rev. King was talking about. I had a choice. I could choose to muddle in my pity or I could get up and make the best of my ordeal and learn from this tragedy. I chose to keep my eyes on Christ and His plan for me and not the circumstances. I chose to get back to what God had in store for us.

Albeit a few weeks late, we published the 3rd edition of the Christian Business Phone Book and are now working on our 4th edition. Every year our ministry continues to grow. Not only has our Northwest Arkansas directory flourished, but we also have plans for two more directories, including one in Southwest Missouri, and soon, one in Wichita Kansas. God has blessed us beyond what we could’ve imagined.

Sometimes we get so caught up in our physical circumstances we forget that God is always in control. So as we go into 2013, remember that we’ll all have times of challenge and controversy, it’s how we react and respond to them that matters.

“Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans” Proverbs 16:3
